6 Tips For People Who Have Crazy Mornings

Is your morning calm? Or is it pure chaos? If you feel rushed off your feet and stressed out every single morning, then you need to take steps to gain control. It doesn't matter whether you're super busy because of your job or you have kids, chaotic mornings will be a thing of the past with the right routine, and we have some tips to help you get there.

A Positive Start

If you can make your first morning action a peaceful one, it's a positive way to start your day and it sets the tone. For example, rather than beginning with chaos, take five minutes to meditate, read, pray, or simply sit quietly. Get up five minutes early if you have to – but take that time for yourself just to get your day off to a positive start. It will help you tone down the chaos.

Planning

Whether you sit down in the morning or complete this task the night before, there is a benefit to creating a to-do list for the day ahead. Making a list of priorities and tasks will help you stay on track, which is often difficult to do when chaos reigns because chaos tends to make you forget what needs to get done. Planning helps you get your head around what you expect to face, and it can also help you organize your thoughts and feelings.

Preparation

This might sound quite similar to planning, but preparation looks slightly different, and this is something you should do the night before. It's all about taking steps to ensure the morning runs smoothly from choosing outfits, packing lunches, sorting out homework and backpacks, and getting everything lined up to limit the chaos. You can also do yourself a favor by cleaning up the kitchen or dining area where everyone tends to congregate in the morning.

Prioritize

There is a limited amount of time, especially in the morning and it often feels like it runs quicker. So, think about what you have to do between waking up and the moment you need to walk out the front door.

Every minute counts so prioritize. Are you going to be more efficient if you shower and dress before you get the kids up? Will it be more helpful to get them up and ready and have them eat while you slip away to get ready? Create a set of priorities that work for you and set your morning routine to follow that outline. When you can focus on what to do and how to can make your mornings less chaotic.

Declutter

You might not realize how much clutter can contribute to chaos, but it does. Decluttering your closets and even the kitchen space can speed you up in the morning and help you limit stress.

Think about how frustrating it is to find an outfit when your closet is full of clothes you never wear. Then think about your children having the same experience with their closets.

Taking time to slim down your wardrobe to make getting ready more straightforward is a great way to manage chaos. The same can be said for the hall closet where you store jackets, etc., and the kitchen where you have to prepare breakfast rapidly. If your morning can run more smoothly by decluttering, then get decluttering!

Establish An Evening Routine

Your morning will unfold much more smoothly when you wake up well-rested. It's so much easier, and it is well within your control. It begins by establishing a healthy evening routine. It's all about relaxing and winding down to improve your sleep, which will naturally improve your mornings.

Give your children time and space to unwind without screens, whether it's reading a book, doing yoga, or meditating. The hour before bed should be as quiet and restful as possible to prepare them for sleep. The same goes for you. Your final hour before bed should also be as relaxing as possible.
